Sarah Britten, 1st picture

Good moro,

As promised, here is the first picture from Sarah Britten's shoot. This shot was challenging because we shot in a busy coffee shop in Bryanston at their busiest time and had to contend with the harsh lights in the shop. I also threw Sarah in the deep end as this was the first shot, and Sarah was not yet comfortable, but had to stand infront of a busy shop and have photos taken.

This was the first time I'v ever had to ask for permission to shoot in a public place, something that has terrified me since I took up photography. There was always the thought in the back of my head that I wasn't good enough, and the thought of rejection has always scared me too much to ask. The manager was great and very helpful and friendly about us shooting in his shop which was great. This experience taught me to believe in myself, stand tall and with confidence, and just go ahead and ask. Most likely they will be thrilled to have you take interest in their shop and love the bustle of excitement and intrigue that it creates in the patrons.

What did I learn on this shoot? To live up to that saying that I love so much: "Do one thing every day that scares you". I have no idea where that saying comes from but I like to believe that I can push myself to do just that. Because, more likely then not, the experience will be a positive one and all I can do is learn from it and grow.

Sarah Britten shoot

Yesterday I had a photoshoot with a woman who is known by the well-read person as very opinionated, and perhaps even quite critical in her writing about her subjects. However, when you meet Sarah Britten you might be surprised to find out that she is not just a very well spoken author and blogger (using plenty of big words), but also polite and quite reserved compared to what one would expect, but with a touch of quirkiness (if that's a word) thrown in.

Sarah is a published author and has a very interesting blog where she tackles every day issues with valid points and satire. In her own words "Sarah Britten has written three books on South African insults. During the day she is a communication strategist in the ad industry; by night she writes books and blog entries. It helps to have insomnia.". Check out her blog on http://www.thoughtleader.co.za/sarahbritten for some entertaining reading.

The shoot was to update her corporate look on her professional profile, as well as some new author shots and shots for her blog so keep an eye on all of her social media sites! :)

I even find in writing this blog I have tried to be as eloquent and well-spoken as possible, in fact I have been contemplating what to write in this first real blog of mine all day. I'm even adding in my apostrophes and using big words that I don't usually use. So Sarah, thanks for the fun shoot, for getting me out of my comfort zone of the studio, and for helping me realize that I cant use sms language to write blogs.

Will upload pictures tomorrow once I start editing them...and once I figure out how to upload pictures here!

Have a great evening!
